Such a shame, because the location is fantastic. The rooms weren't very clean, and the beds were unusable: the sofa bed was far too hard, while the regular beds were much too soft. It all gave the impression the owner just wanted to make a quick buck. We also had to pay an unannounced €100 deposit when the key was handed over. P.S. We had to leave our bikes in the unlocked courtyard.

Even one star is too generous. The apartment smelled of stale smoke and was filthy. The faucets were completely limescale-covered and looked as if they'd never been cleaned, and the beds weren't made. When I complained, he said he could fix it, but we hadn't even unpacked and demanded a refund. He promised to return the money, though we'd already paid by card before seeing the room. After three phone calls, reminders, and a formal payment demand, we still haven't got it back. Be careful!

They've renovated the old building cheaply and turned it into small apartments. Picking up the key was straightforward, though they required a €100 deposit. The apartment beneath the roof was very warm. It worked for one night, but the price feels high for such a basic renovation.

A great base for easy bike rides through the lovely surroundings, and Rothenburg ob der Tauber is only a short drive away. The apartment itself was clean and beautiful, right in the heart of Bad Mergentheim, a cozy town with lots of restaurants and other amenities.
