Vitalhotel König am Park

The pool was really nice, and the restaurant food was fine. Our room was quite large but old-fashioned, apart from the bathroom, which I think had been renovated. The whole hotel has an old-fashioned feel, though it was still very nice. There were lots of elderly guests while we were there, and I’m not sure whether it suits people our age, 25-30. Staff were very friendly, but their English wasn’t very good. Parking is free behind the building, about a two-minute walk away, or you can pay 3 Euros per night to park out front. There’s also a sauna, but we didn’t have time to use it.

There’s a lot to do if the weather turns bad, and the free bicycles are great for exploring the surroundings. The breakfast buffet had plenty of options. Our room was old but well maintained, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Reception was a problem for us. We arrived after 21:00 because our train connections fell through, and there was nobody at the desk. It took 20 minutes to find someone to check us in. You also have to ask for the Gästekarte, which gives discounts in Bad Mergentheim. An included massage had been scheduled for us, but nobody told us about it. Hopefully your experience will go more smoothly.

We were a group of 11 and all wondered why there wasn’t a single glass in the rooms, not even a plastic one in the bathroom. Since there’s no bar or restaurant nearby, it would also help to have a water boiler and some instant coffee or tea in the room. Still, it’s a nice, old hotel in a lovely natural setting. We enjoyed our stay otherwise.

I wouldn’t recommend it. The facilities throughout are too old, and the bath booth is really uncomfortable.
