The adjacent buildings are fabulous, and the park is breathtaking. It’s easy to see how the Pückler family went bust, since they were so keen to keep investing in the park’s upkeep instead of watching their finances. The hotel is wonderful, the people are great and friendly, and they go out of their way to make guests happy.

The spa was included, and it was perfect. Breakfast was okay, though nothing special, and the price was higher than at other, better-quality places. I spent one night here with friends while biking along the river. In room 201, the foam mattresses had pee sheets, something I’ve never encountered at a hotel before. Honestly, that’s a deal breaker. You can’t sleep comfortably on plastic or rubber!

At 135 euros a night, I think the price is too high given these issues. We booked one queen bed but got two beds pushed together, and they kept sliding apart. The room door had a 1-2 cm gap beneath it, so whenever the window was open, a draft was unavoidable. In the bathroom, there was just one soap and hair gel product, and it smelled and felt unpleasant. The noisy ventilation blew cold air into the bathroom instead of drawing air out, making it uncomfortable to use.

The area around the hotel doesn’t have many restaurants or places to eat that are open. We found a quaint beer garden, though. The hotel itself was nice, near a large forest and nature area.

The sauna doesn’t open until 5pm, so keep that in mind. The Wi-Fi was terrible, breakfast mediocre, and the rooms overpriced. There was a door for a mini-fridge in the room, but no fridge inside. 😂
