The surroundings are beautiful, and the hotel was clean, but everything is old. I found communication very difficult, even though the staff spoke English very well. Each interaction left me feeling they wanted to get rid of me, and their answers were evasive. At checkout, they asked for extra money, saying there was a city tax of about 3 euros a day. When I asked what it was for and whether it gave me any benefits, they said it offered none and was a tax paid by tourists. I later looked into it and found out the tax does offer some benefits in the form of discounts. I was supposed to get a card at check-in to use those discounts. I won’t return because they weren’t friendly or welcoming.

The outside looks quite grand, but inside it’s worn, and our large room was dingy, as if it hadn’t been updated in decades. The original elevator serves some rooms but not all. We had only a winding staircase to reach ours, and noise from other guests using the stairs carried easily right outside our door. Parking on site is very limited and tight, so it’s not suitable for larger cars or anyone who isn’t a confident driver. There’s some street parking nearby, though it can be hard to find depending on when you arrive. I’d say it’s a 7/10 at best and doesn’t deserve the exceptional online ratings, which I suspect come from Elvis fans. Spend your money elsewhere unless you’re a hardcore Elvis fan looking for the experience.

As an Aussie Elvis fan, I loved our stay in the Elvis room. The hotel is beautiful, and the staff were so friendly and welcoming. It’s an easy walk to shops, restaurants, the Elvis statue, and other attractions.

We had a brilliant time at the Villa Grunewald Hotel during a recent Elvis Presley weekend. It’s in a great spot for all the amenities at Bad Nauheim, and it was great to stay where Elvis lived for a short while. The staff were friendly and nothing was any trouble for them. Breakfast had a good selection of continental food.
