Adler Gaststube Hotel Biergarten

The owner took plenty of time to chat with us and offered tips for a nice hike. We spent one night here and got a very friendly welcome. The hotel is older, but our room was clean and the food was excellent. Breakfast was very good, with fresh rolls and bread.

I've stayed here several times, but this visit was unpleasant from the start. Check-in was frustrating because nobody clearly explained the process. We planned to eat at the restaurant, but the owner said there was no more capacity even though half the place was empty. It would've been fine if we'd known earlier. Instead, we had to look for another restaurant and had very little time because of an appointment. We'll stay somewhere else next time.

The hotel is very old and worn, and the rooms are extremely basic. It's right beside a road, so it's very noisy even with the window shutters down. The staff were very unfriendly and didn't seem interested in helping. I absolutely wouldn't recommend it.

The room was clean, but the bedding had clearly seen better days. The mattresses were worn out, and the bed squeaked with every small movement. Breakfast was meager and there weren't any bread rolls. The owners seemed to avoid contact, so I can't say much about how friendly they are. Check-in was by terminal, and we used an access code to enter the hotel, then followed the corridors to our booked room. The place is right in the center for Halloween in Bad Rappenau, but it didn't impress us. The room seemed to have been empty for a while, because the drains were dry and the air felt stale. It was very dark even during the day, with a weak energy-saving bulb that barely lit the space. The window looked straight at the opposite wall of another building. With some improvements, I can imagine this place becoming something special.
