The fleece duvet deserves an extra star. It was absolutely perfect for chilly nights in the Alps. Pension Lex is also in an excellent spot for exploring nearby attractions, including Königsee, the Eagles Nest, and the historical town of Berchtesgaden. The room was a decent size, and breakfast was straightforward, if a little limited. Otherwise, it’s a fairly typical guesthouse in Bayern. Check it out for those duvets, especially in winter.

We stayed for two nights last year and had a large, clean room and an excellent breakfast. It’s good value for money. Just remember this is a Pension, so don’t expect five-star facilities.

We’d driven a long way, and I’d been looking forward to this trip, so I was gutted by the welcome we got. The owner was very unhappy, grunted at us when we asked about breakfast, then stormed off. The room wasn’t the one we’d booked either. We were meant to have a balcony with a mountain view, but got a tiny window instead. Nervously, we went to explain, and he stomped to a small office by the entrance, muttered loudly in German, then thrust another set of keys at us before storming off again. There were no apologies or pleasantries. Honestly, I was scared and didn’t feel able to stay. I hope other people have a better experience.

The rooms are extraordinary, with an old-fashioned feel, and breakfast was good. There’s an impressive huge sculpture of Holly Mother in the corridor on the first level.

The room was large and clean, with a balcony and bathroom. Breakfast was nice. I recommend it. 🙂
