KURHOTEL Bad Suderode

I was there, but I don't know much more because I basically wasn't even inside.

Top-notch.

The wellness area was clean and nicely set up, and both the sauna and massages were top-notch. Robes and towels were provided, and the masseuse was friendly. The restaurant food was really tasty and reasonably priced, and breakfast was a good size and delicious. The setting is beautiful. Our room looked out toward the forest and fountain. It was small but clean and entirely adequate. The staff were friendly and helpful, except that the young woman who welcomed us, either a trainee or newly qualified, was very quiet and reserved. That wasn't a problem, but we had trouble understanding her. It's a lovely little hotel, and we recommend it. We'll be back!

The reception staff were friendly, helpful, and dedicated, and the small sauna was really nice, with infusions, different hot and cold showers, and a lounging area. The couples' bath treatment was lovely too, though the chocolate that came with it was very old and there wasn't much of it. The rooms were very clean, but dated and lacking charm. They had a musty smell, and the centrally controlled heating barely worked. There wasn't a kettle or anything similar. The toilet area in the bathroom was cramped, and although the shower had more room, the water pressure was low. The three-course restaurant meal was a low point. It seemed carelessly put together, with almost every part frozen or convenience food, about youth hostel standard. The staff were friendly to us, at least. Breakfast was okay: the scrambled eggs were tasty and plentiful, the rolls had just been reheated, and there was an adequate choice of cold cuts. We still wonder what we paid so much for, with such a big gap between the price and what we got.
