The grounds and playground were overgrown, and the place wasn't as well kept as it looks in the photos. Inside, things were worn but clean. You need a car to get to the hotel, and payment is cash only. Our apartment was cozy and we had a lovely weekend. The breakfast buffet had a good range of things and set us up nicely for the day.

The view from the highest point in Bad Sulza is worth staying for, and free parking is a plus. The owner still greets guests in person, which is nice. Breakfast was okay, though as a coffee drinker I missed having condensed milk. Everything feels a bit dated. The Wi-Fi didn't reach our room, and the device couldn't even find the router. That, along with the old TV, doesn't feel acceptable these days. I'd give it 2.5 stars.

The hotel has seen better days, and the rooms had cobwebs and sagging beds. Breakfast was just premade rolls. When we asked for water or juice, they said no and offered tap water instead. At this price, that really isn't acceptable.

The hillside setting is the best thing about this place. The condition of the hotel, though, was a letdown. It seems to be run more like a family business by an elderly owner and a few staff, and the cleanliness wasn't great: cobwebs, insects, even grasshoppers in the room. Breakfast was very basic, the coffee was weak, and we got juice on only one of the three days. It felt more like a nature lodge or youth hostel. The location is top notch, but the state of the place is a flop. We won't be back. €100 for four beds in a double room feels borderline.
