After driving four hours from Stuttgart, I arrived at 9 pm with the temperature at -1 Celsius, only to be told they had no rooms left. I'd booked two nights weeks earlier. The person at the check-in desk just shrugged and told me to “look around” for somewhere else, without even seeming sorry. They can take a reservation, but apparently can't hold one. The hotel had even left me a message that morning expecting my arrival, which made the whole thing ridiculous. In hindsight, I’m glad I didn't stay. The lobby looked cramped, outdated, like Microsoft Windows 98, and downmarket, so I can only assume the rooms might be similar. I’m sure the location near other attractions appeals to people, but I wouldn't rely on this hotel. Extremely unprofessional and downright obtuse.

The breakfast had a good range of choices and was very good. Our room was spacious and comfortable, with lovely views from the windows. The hotel is in the old town (altstadt), and the manager was friendly. I’d stay here again.

The staircase lights kept going out, which made going up and down feel uneasy. Apart from that, the rooms were clean, the location was beautiful, breakfast was lovely, and the staff were friendly.

I wanted somewhere quaint and picturesque, and this place had just the atmosphere I was after. The room's balcony opened onto a little square, and breakfast was filling. It's a lovely little spot beside the baths, with plenty of restaurants and bars nearby. I really enjoyed staying here. If you're after a soulless corporate Hyatt, though, this probably won't suit you.
