Hotel Etol

The rooms were clean and pleasant, and the location is excellent, close to everything. The service, though, was awful, and we didn't feel welcome. When we arrived around 7 to 7:30 PM, nobody was at reception. We rang, waited, then rang again; someone came in through another entrance and complained that we hadn't been patient because we'd rung twice. The breakfast information was inconsistent too. We were told 7 to 10 AM, while the hotel's website says 10:30. We went down at 9:45 and staff scolded us, saying breakfast ended at 10 and the buffet was already being shut down at 9:50. When we raised the mismatch, a staff member said they weren't paid for an extra 30 minutes of work. I'm editing this to respond to the owner's reply. First, we arrived at 9:45, not ten minutes before 10, as I already said. The claim that we arrived later came from your long-time, excellent employee. Second, nobody told us we had to arrive early because service would stop at 9:50. We were told breakfast ran from 7 to 10. We're adults and were on time. Coming in 15 minutes before closing isn't rude. It's very disrespectful to call us rude and late, then tell us we should have come earlier. We pointed that out. It's also disrespectful to say you're not paid extra when a guest tells you they were treated badly. I still feel this person shouldn't be working in hospitality.

I can't recommend this place. We paid over €200 but were given three small, old children's beds that smelled of urine, in a shared entrance area, instead of the double bed we'd booked. The front desk couldn't find our booking and seemed to know nothing about it. We offered to leave right away and get a refund, but she refused; she said we'd get nothing back if we left. She took our payment at check-in even though, legally, we could have paid at checkout. I believe she did that because she knew about the room situation, and that it amounted to a scam. There's no air conditioning or balcony. Breakfast was very poor for this price, with no scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages, or similar options.

We liked the spacious room, comfortable bed, and the clean bathroom and toilet. The hotel is nicely located, and breakfast was good and enough. The room didn't get very warm, though one of the combs wasn't heating properly. The pillows and duvets weren't that comfortable either. Parking is limited, so we used a car park and paid an extra €20.

The staff made the stay feel especially welcoming, and the breakfast was so good it would satisfy even a picky eater. Our room was spotless, roomy, and comfortable. Recommended!
