Wellness Privathotel Post an der Therme

We spent five lovely days at the hotel. The suite was spacious and comfortable, the pool was nice, and there was a good choice of saunas. The dinners were varied, with no dish repeated. Service and the welcome were the best I’ve encountered in Germany over the past decade. Some saunas weren’t working, though, and I was very surprised there was no tea station in the sauna area. My one other complaint was the lack of somewhere to sit, chat, and relax. The lobby was full of tables, always set up for lunch or dinner, and there was no lounge or similar space. All in all, a great experience, and worth coming back for.

The food was very good, and we could charge our EV. The building is nice and well situated, but it feels old overall. The bathroom was very basic, we could hear other guests walking and talking, and two of the three blinds in our room were broken. One of the two blinds was broken in our son’s room too. Unfortunately, it didn’t feel worth the price.

The restaurant is excellent, and the staff were generally helpful and friendly. The location is ideal, and the modern spa is finished to a high standard. But the hotel’s website and brochures make it unclear that massages and other treatments aren’t available whenever you want them. If you’re not there on a particular day, you can’t get them at all. The glossy marketing also suggests high-standard, modern treatment rooms, but they’re in the basement and need renovation. I booked because of the wellness offer, so I was very disappointed. The hotel should correct this if it wants to stay credible. The four star rating doesn’t seem accurate to me. Three stars would fit better, since many facilities are basic or missing. My room didn’t look like the ones shown in the brochure or online, and I suspect I was in a section that hadn’t yet been renovated. When the hotel isn’t busy, reception seems to close early, and the bar or wine bar, which is standard in four star hotels, doesn’t open at all. Breakfast seating was strange too, as other reviewers have mentioned. We weren’t free to sit where we liked. The dining room was spacious and nearly empty, but we were directed to a small side room that was packed. After we protested, they gave us seats at a corner table in the otherwise empty dining room. No one explained the odd arrangement. The food is excellent, and the staff are friendly and helpful. Depending on your budget, it could be good value.

The wellness area is a lovely place to swim, relax, and enjoy the saunas. The rooms are spacious and quiet, and both the restaurant food and breakfast are excellent. The staff are courteous, knowledgeable, and friendly. Brilliant hotel.
