Excelsior Hotel Ernst am Dom

The cathedral view from our room is something I’ll always remember. The bed was excellent, and breakfast had options for lots of preferences. The mini bar had a few things, including a great apple cider and milk for coffee. We were on a four-week Europe trip as a family, and Excelsior was easily the most hospitable place we stayed. We’re a simple-looking family, but like having somewhere nice to rest, and we never felt out of place. Our four-year-old got a welcome teddy bear and hygiene kit, and they even arranged warm milk at a chosen time before bed. Annika at the desk and the bellhop welcomed us right away and helped us out. After a long trip, the welcome card and snacks were a lovely touch. Everyone we met was warm and helpful. We’ll definitely return and recommend it to others.

Stayed for one night and had a great experience. The room was spacious and clean, the staff friendly, and the food delicious. I’d absolutely recommend it and come back.

The service is what made our stay at Hotel Excelsior Ernst in Cologne stand out. From the welcome at reception to the care at breakfast and throughout, every interaction felt thoughtful and polished. We were upgraded to a lovely room and found a chocolate tart with a handwritten note waiting for us. Breakfast was a pleasure too, served in an elegant, inviting space. The architecture and tasteful interiors are impressive, but the attentive service is what makes the hotel special.

Being right by the train station and cathedral made the location hard to beat. The staff were very professional, taking our bags as soon as we arrived. Our room was one of the most beautiful of our honeymoon, spacious and lovely, with double sinks, a fun mini bar, and the hotel’s historic character all around.
