Hiking and cycling trails start right at the doorstep, and the valley views from the room and terrace are stunning, probably the best in the village. The scenery all around made it feel like a postcard. This charming family-run hotel was peaceful and memorable, with good breakfast and hosts who were warm and thoughtful. I loved it and would come back in a heartbeat.

We stopped for drinks on the terrace and waited for the sun to set over Baiersbronn and its valley. The view was lovely, the local beer came with a booklet about it, and we weren’t rushed or made to feel unwelcome. The staff were friendly; they spoke some English, and we managed a little German. We hadn’t planned to eat, so I can’t comment on the food or accommodation. We found this charming place by accident while heading toward a viewpoint in the upper part of Baiersbronn. It has nice decor and keeps its traditional features while still feeling more modern. Nearby there’s a children’s play area, though kids would need supervision. The surrounding buildings are attractive, in the style of 1920s traditional German homes you might see in Bavaria or Switzerland. Parking could be an issue in peak season, I imagine. We parked on a nearby road, as we’d expected to leave the car and walk along one of Baiersbronn’s scenic trails to the viewpoint. At first we thought the place was closed, since opening days and hours can be limited by season. We visited between the summer holidays and ski season, but they were happy to seat us on the terrace. We were the only ones there, and it seemed like it could be very popular at the right time of year.

What made my stay at Pension Garni Talblick especially nice was the care from the hosts. They were kind and clearly wanted everything to be just right. The hostess made breakfast herself each morning, always fresh and tasty, and you could tell she put a lot into it. The guesthouse is in a beautiful, peaceful spot with amazing mountain views. My room was clean and comfortable, and I felt at home right away. It was a relaxing stay, and I’d gladly come back.

The owners were very friendly, the rooms were super clean, and it was quiet and peaceful with a wonderful view from our room. Breakfast was hearty, filling and different each day. We’d visited the Black Forest area before, but this was our best vacation there. We didn’t feel like going home and will definitely return.
