Hostel Altes Spital Balingen

We're here now with our touring band, and the rooms, management, and whole experience have been great. The owner of the local live music venue booked the hostel for us. I spoke with the owner (?) just before that, and they were incredibly friendly and helpful. Getting booked was easy, and everyone was friendly. The place is modern and spotlessly clean, and the beds are comfortable. My only small quibble, really nitpicking, is that there could be more electrical outlets in the room. We'd definitely recommend the hostel. Thanks for everything.

A lovely hostel, designed with real care and built around a great concept. It’s clean and well maintained, highly recommended, and always worth a visit!

The booking and key arrangements all worked without a hitch, and the price was very fair. As a hiker on the Via Beuronensis, I found it ideal, right in central Balingen. The bed was excellent, and both the shower and toilet were first-class. Everything was great, and I’d happily stay again. Highly recommend.

At 3 p.m. I got to the room and found a stranger sleeping and snoring there. The smell was awful, with empty vodka bottles on the floor, like the party was over. My shoes and socks were ruined. Yuck. At 3:15 I put the key in the return mailbox. I've never seen anything like it. I paid 35 euros for what? I've stayed in plenty of hostels, but never had strangers sleeping in the same room!
