Residenz Jacobs

An absolute bargain. The rooms are spacious and luxurious, with all the amenities you'd expect.

Really great place!

We stayed in the Siegfried von Krosigk apartment on the 2nd floor of Residence Jacobs for a weekend, for a visit to the Quedlinburg Christmas Market. We're very happy with our stay and would gladly return. The villa is well kept, with a wide carpeted staircase up to the apartments and reception on the first floor. We had parking in the courtyard, and the hosts were very friendly, with excellent communication beforehand. The setting is quiet and almost right beside the castle park. Bus stops are around the corner, restaurants are within walking distance, and the guest cards gave us free bus travel plus a ticket for the Selketalbahn railway. The apartment was pleasantly and comfortably furnished. It had a large common room with a balcony and a magnificent view across Ballenstedt, plus two separate double bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. One bedroom is up a flight of stairs from the common room. There was everything we needed, including a TV, kitchenette with dishwasher, oven, ceramic hob, coffee machine, and two comfortable sofa beds.

We had a very pleasant stay in the landscape architect's room. Even though it faces the street, we couldn't hear any street noise, and the old restored parquet floor is especially lovely. It's a vacation apartment with a fully equipped kitchen, and there's a four-star hotel right across the street where breakfast is available for €14.50. You can also use its small wellness area, with sauna and a small pool, for €9.50. The Bodethal Thermal Baths are about a 20-minute drive away. There's plenty to see around the residence, including Ballenstedt Castle and its gardens, the Film Museum, and the City Museum, with entrance fees of about €4-5 each. For cycling, you can rent bikes from Zweirad Kilian in Gernrode, for example, for €10 a day, and they deliver them to your accommodation for free. A bakery is within walking distance, as is a Steinecke bakery inside the Rewe supermarket. Just behind Rewe, along the way to the Gegensteine, there's a very nice, well-maintained bike path.
