Hotel Sandstern is in a perfect location, with most sights around a ten-minute walk away. My room was new and nice, though some others look a bit older. Breakfast was nice too. All in all, it’s a good choice.

I paid 50€/night, which felt like good value. It’s right in the party district, so you’ll hear people outside, but that’s part of why you might stay here. It’s very local and central, and on weekends you can grab a slice downstairs until around 2am. Drink, fall over, sleep.

The hotel’s street is quiet lively, with plenty of restaurants, pubs, live clubs, and jazz clubs, and you can reach the city center with a short walk. Parking is a real challenge in this area: almost every spot is reserved for locals with official special permits, so you may have to leave your car a few kilometers away in a private lot. Reception closes after 18:00, so check in earlier and keep track of the time or you might find no one there. There may be contact information available when you arrive.

A very clean hotel with spacious rooms, right in the middle of the old city where everything happens. I’d recommend it for a short stay.

The hotel’s best point is its spot right among the most popular beer bars. It’s not the freshest or coziest place, though.
