Aparthotel Arberresidenz

For our hiking weekend, we stayed at the Arberresidenz, a 3-star hotel right by the hiking park in the small village of Bayerisch Eisenstein. We had breakfast included, though the rooms can also be used for self-catering. Parking is right at the hotel, and the hike to Großer Arber can start from there too. It's around 5.5 km to the valley station. Our top-floor room had a large balcony where we could sit in the evening without immediate neighbors. Inside, there was a combined living and sleeping area with an open kitchen and dining table, a small hallway, and a large bathroom with two sinks, a toilet, and a bathtub. The rooms were very clean. An older couple runs the apartment hotel, and check-in and answers to our questions were friendly, quick, and efficient. Breakfast was buffet-style in the basement. The room wasn't the most appealing spot in the hotel, but it was fine for our stay. There was no fresh fruit, vegetables like tomatoes or cucumbers, or bread rolls, just different kinds of bread. Otherwise, it had what you'd expect from a typical breakfast buffet. We didn't use the spa area. For dinner in Bayerisch Eisenstein, we recommend Gasthaus Pöschl.

The apartment was spacious, clean, and practical, with fresh linen sheets, pillowcases, and wool blankets provided. The kitchen is on the small side, but its two burners are enough to cook something. There's underground parking for an extra charge. The apartment hotel sits outside the city center, about a 30-minute walk away.

I really enjoyed my stay at this lovely little place. It's good for unwinding, hiking, or skiing, with Großer Arber about 5 km away. The food is good and reasonably priced, and in summer it's a paradise for kids, with an affordable amusement park nearby.

The rooms are spacious and clean. It's a family-run hotel with helpful staff, and guests get an activity card.
