Our room had a large balcony and a gorgeous view, and the peaceful village suited us well. It has few shops and restaurants open in summer, since the village is generally gearing up for winter, but we loved the quiet. We'd definitely visit again. The family-run hotel is beautifully situated and convenient, with lovely leisure facilities. There's plenty of parking, and you can also walk uphill from the train station on footpaths. A weary traveller can take the nearby bus or ask the hotel to arrange a transfer. The current family owners built it for ski and winter sports visitors, though it's just as suitable for summer hiking and exploring. The Czech Rep. border is moments away. There's a beautiful pool, Turkish bath and sauna, plus spa treatments, all great after an active day outdoors. Breakfast is a really good buffet. Dinner has simpler choices, handy if you don't have the energy to go out. The ensuite facilities are basic, with soap and universal shower and hair wash, and there are no tea or coffee facilities in the room, though room service is available. Check out Pizzeria for the best pizza we've ever eaten, and The Smugglers Hut near the train station for good Bavarian food and beer. It's where the locals hang out!

A rip-off, seriously. We booked a double room for a short trip at 68€ per person per night with breakfast, so 136€ a night. The room was clean and nice, but nowhere near worth that price. The breakfast everyone raves about was just an average German breakfast, the sort you can find at any bed and breakfast in Germany. For a spa and wellness hotel, charging extra for bathrobes and slippers put me off. The robe was 7€ per person for the stay; the room information said slippers were available “for a certain amount,” though I didn't ask how much. The towels were an ugly green and brown and nowhere near soft. The owners seemed kind of nice, but were very inflexible if you wanted to change or cancel something you'd booked. I was 8 month pregnant, and called a week before arrival to ask if we could cancel. They said we'd still owe 80% of the booked price if we didn't come. There are lots of places that let you cancel for free, especially when you're pregnant and have a doctor's note. I had also booked a head massage along with the room, then canceled the morning of the appointment because I had an awful headache. The owner lady at the front desk was more than not amused and said she would have to ask first, since the masseuse had surely made weekend plans too. A spa and wellness hotel should have a masseuse on duty rather than on call, especially when the homepage says that. You need your own vehicle to get into town to rent skis or get dinner, since public transportation is bad. Dinner at the hotel isn't possible unless you booked it in advance with your room. You can get to Arber mountain by hourly bus or by car. I'd recommend Garmisch Partenkirchen ten times over going back there.

The spa area had everything we could want and was very clean. The garden is large, well kept and beautifully landscaped. We stayed at Brunnenhof for three nights in July and were very satisfied, with a quiet location away from the bustle but quick access to Arber mountain or Arbersee lake by car or bus. When booking, I asked for a vegan breakfast, which was no problem at all. We were welcomed very warmly and had a large room with a kitchen, dining area and terrace overlooking the big garden. The vegan breakfast selection surprised us, with cheese, cold cuts, yogurt and milk among the options. We rarely see such variety in rural areas, if ever, so it was a real treat. A big thank you to the owner's daughter, who looked after our meals! On my birthday she also surprised me with a beautifully and tastefully set breakfast table, which I really appreciated. We used the room kitchen for dinner. It could have been better equipped, but worked perfectly well for what we needed. We were very satisfied and will definitely come back!

The rooms in the annex of Pension Sonnenecke were bright, welcoming and spacious, each with a balcony, and I found the beds very comfortable. I didn't try the economy section myself. We were there for four days with our motorcycles and could leave them in the underground garage. Half-board is highly recommended. Breakfast is plentiful, and they cater to guests with allergies. Dinner, including the salad buffet, was absolutely delicious. The service staff were friendly and attentive.
