Pension Agathe

We only stopped for a night on the way to our holiday, but Pension Agathe would work well for a longer visit too. It sits right beside the Altmühl, which you can see winding through the valley from the balcony, and there’s courtyard parking. The Gierl family were easygoing and friendly. Our room was clean and had everything we needed, and breakfast was tasty, especially the tomatoes from their garden. There’s also a traditional inn with regional food and a beer garden just a short walk away.

We really enjoyed how quiet it was, and the bright rooms come with balconies. Breakfast in the conservatory, looking out over the river and the lovely surroundings, was a treat. The family also lends out bikes and a canoe for anyone wanting to get out and about. Zur Sonne is only a five-minute walk away. We felt very comfortable here.

We booked breakfast as an extra and were so glad we did, it was absolutely delicious. The Gierl family were lovely and kept checking whether we needed anything in the apartment or at breakfast. Mrs. Gierl also shared some really useful excursion tips. Our apartment had everything we could want, and the fly screens on every window and balcony door were fantastic. We spent 10 days here in August and wholeheartedly recommend Pension Agathe. Thank you, Gierl family, for a wonderful stay, and stay healthy! ☺️

Mrs. Gierl gave us such a warm welcome when we arrived. Our room was neat and clean, and we slept comfortably. Breakfast was generous and delicious, served at a big table with the Gierl family in the conservatory. The guesthouse is right by the Altmühl and across from the church, with Gasthof Sonne and its beer garden an easy walk away. Canoes are also available to rent at very reasonable prices.
