Gästehaus Abtei Sayn

I found this on Booking.com late at night while looking around Koblenz. I needed a single room and a good night's sleep before a 15-hour drive back to the UK, and that’s exactly what I got. Check-in was available until 23:00, it was easy enough to find despite being outside the city, and there was plenty of free parking, which mattered to me. My room was on the ground floor, so getting in and out was easy. The Wi-Fi didn’t reach well there, but that wasn’t an issue for me. The place itself was peaceful, the facilities clinically clean, and the staff super friendly. Breakfast was amazing too. I’d expected it to cost another €20, so I was glad to hear it was included. Everything about the stay was just right.

Parking was easy, and the quiet setting has a nice park nearby for a walk. There aren’t many dinner options close by, but breakfast was perfect. A great place for a night, and I stay here whenever I’m in the area.

The restaurant, about 300 metres away, served an excellent breakfast, though it was very expensive. I had a visitor join me for breakfast, and that cost a lot too. The restaurant service was better than the hotel’s. The hotel was hard to find, and there was nobody there to welcome me. When I asked about it, I was told five times, “We are not a hotel,” even though they charge super hotel prices. They just give you a key and send you off to sleep. The old building urgently needs some TLC.

The room was spacious and quiet, and the breakfast was so good it alone makes the five stars feel justified. A really nice place. I’ll definitely stop here again.
