Hotel Gasthof zur Post Benediktbeuern

After visiting the beautiful Christmas market at Benediktbeuern Abbey yesterday, we stopped for lunch at Gasthof zur Post while walking through the village. The dining room was cozy and stylish, and we were warmly welcomed. The Bavarian food was excellent, and the service was exceptionally friendly and attentive. We thoroughly enjoyed the visit. The Kaiserschmarrn is a must try. Even after a two-week holiday, we still think it was the best in the region :-). The prices were reasonable for families, and the menu had delicious meat and vegetarian dishes. We came across Gasthof zur Post by chance while looking for somewhere nice to eat, and got a lovely table without a reservation. It’s attractive inside and out, and the restrooms looked newly renovated. The staff were especially friendly and attentive.

We came from a seminar at Lake Ammersee and arrived late on Sunday, November 2nd, 2025. They welcomed us warmly, and although the kitchen was about to close, we could still have dinner without feeling rushed. Our room was a pleasant surprise, spacious, modern, and comfortable. The restaurant is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, but breakfast was good and they accommodated our requests. We’d gladly return.

We used to eat there often, but after the owner changed a few times, the quality had a lot to be desired. Since the restaurant got a new manager and team, the food has been high quality and the service excellent. It’s been busy, and we’ve already been several times. We’ll certainly be back.
