For us, staying here was an experience. Our attic apartment was spacious and looked out over the lovely landscaped park. Guests can use the extensive grounds, with its garden house, swimming pond, and lots of pleasant places to sit or lounge. Inside, there’s a charming hunting room on the ground floor and a fireplace room in the vaulted cellar. The first-class wellness area can also be booked privately for an extra charge, and it has a cozy fireplace. The lovingly restored little castle is stylishly furnished while still feeling quaint and comfortable.

The three of us came looking for a place near the Baltic Sea with two bedrooms, a small kitchen, and a welcoming feel. My mother-in-law would be with us and join us at the living room table in the evenings, so finding the right apartment wasn’t easy. I also wanted professional business photos taken by a photographer from Rostock and hoped to combine that with a short break. I couldn’t find a rental with elegant furnishings that would look right in the photos, and we also needed a place for a birthday, good restaurants nearby, and time by the sea. Our photographer suggested this manor house, and it turned out to be a real gem. The care and effort that have gone into restoring a historic property of this size are hard to imagine. Eylem Matthes, our incredibly welcoming hostess, gave us a personal tour of the house and grounds despite a serious foot injury. She shared details of the careful restoration work. That kind of respect for a historic building is rare. Too often, small details are replaced carelessly, and the result looks cheap or out of place. The house and property are beautifully maintained, with a swimming pond. The interiors are a brilliant mix of styles, and the rooms are thoughtfully designed, including an XXL apartment. There’s a sauna and wellness area you can reserve for a lovely few hours, a fantastic cellar with a function room, and a cozy fireplace lounge for quiet moments. It feels like a wonderful trip back in time with all the comforts. The hosts are kind and down-to-earth, and made me feel completely at ease. Restaurants are a short distance away, and the hosts have recommendations for excellent food. This isn’t the place for private room parties, partygoers, or people who need to be loud and noticed. We appreciated the discreet guests, who we barely noticed. If you enjoy places like this, plan to stay several nights. Three nights was far too short for us. We’ll be back! Day trips to Rostock, Wustrow, and Ahrenshoop are easy to manage from here, and even during Hanse Sail we had excellent transport connections for our Friday to Sunday stay. Ines, the housekeeper, welcomed us warmly along with her three dogs, and the whole visit felt relaxed. The house, apartment, and little park with its swimming pond were all tasteful and very well cared for. It’s a quiet spot in eastern Rostock. The village can be proud of its stylishly renovated manor house, its lovely owners and staff, and the Männehobby distillery. The distillery has since moved a bit farther along the main road toward Stralsund to its new, innovative location, and is known for its legendary caraway liqueur and gin. Maybe one day the village will also get a rustic but stylish restaurant as an evening option alongside Karls Erdbeerhof, the manor, and other places. 🫵👍

The garden is gorgeous and open for guests to enjoy, and the hosts personally look after everyone. The manor house is beautiful and furnished with real care. Everything was perfect!
