Alpenhotel Fischer - Adults Only

The location made it easy to head out in any direction, and our spacious, comfortable room had everything we needed. We even made our own morning coffee in bed. The staff were wonderfully friendly and quick to handle every request. Breakfast had such a huge selection that you might wish you had more room in your stomach. Dinner was varied, carefully prepared, and beautifully presented. The eye eats too, after all. We’re already looking forward to coming back.

We came with a group of 11 for our wedding party, and I’d stay again without hesitation. The staff were the best I’ve had at a hotel, so friendly they made the place feel like home, with mountain views. They packed lunches for our very full, active day on Konigsee lake, just 10 minutes away, and gave us passes for the area at check-in. Andrea at the front desk was great to chat with, and bartender Michael gave us excellent drink recommendations. If I could give the service 10 stars, I would.

We still have a little wooden coaster from our stay in May 1985, when we toured Europe for the first time and spent two days at Hotel Fischer. It came from a curious shed near the boat docks at Konigsee. We put in a Deutchmark coin, and mannequins dressed in local clothes started moving a two-handled saw to cut a thin slice from a small log. There was a black ink stamp beside the tray, so we marked the wood with "Konigsee" and a Bavarian image. Such a cool keepsake. The bus ride down to the lake and walk along part of the shore were wonderful. I also remember the food, the advice on getting around to the best sightseeing, and how comfortable the accommodation felt. It was family-run then, with beautiful daughters at the check-in desk, and the stay could hardly have been more perfect. What a time machine.

If you contact us with a proper apology and confirm that room 208 has been thoroughly treated for future guests, I’ll remove this review. Until then, it stays. When something this serious happens, you need to face it and take responsibility. 11/4: Is this not being posted because it violates a policy? I suspect the hotel owner reported it to Google. If this review is removed, I’ll share what happened to me, including a skin bacterial infection very likely from the bedbug incident, the doctor's diagnosis we received in Slovenia, and the medicines I’ve been taking for a third week now. It all started after staying here. Did you properly address the concerns in Room 208 after we left or after reading this review? Your response has been disappointing. Instead of reporting the bedbug bite photos to Google, you should have contacted us and apologized. We added the photos on the day of our stay and the day after, but they were later removed for what we believe was a "policy violation." I’m sharing this again today without them. The sewage smell was exceptionally unpleasant. After breakfast, I noticed lots of red spots on my husband's neck, left hand, and the backs of his arms, likely from his pillow. We’ve never had an issue like this in hotels anywhere in the world. I’m speechless. We paid $250 for one night and got bedbug bites. We stayed in room 208. Please throw away the pillow and use special extermination treatment before the next guest arrives. This completely ruined the start of our day. Bedbugs in a hotel? A big no no.
