Malterlehen-Berchtesgaden

We were looking for somewhere quiet in nature, away from the city's bustle, with a lovely view, and found exactly that here. The mountain peaks and green meadows are hard to tire of. Our apartment was spacious, clean, and tastefully decorated, with very comfortable beds. The hosts are extraordinary people, and we felt wonderful there. One of the best places we've stayed. It left us feeling peaceful and calm. We loved it, thank you!

Andi was so welcoming, and the accommodation was lovely. It had everything we needed, though you'll need to bring your own bathroom things since body wash and shampoo aren't provided. Getting around by car is necessary, as there's no reliable public bus. The local restaurant down the road is okay and has a great beer garden. That didn't keep us from eating out and ending the evening with a nice beer. Great location, lovely host, and we'll recommend it to friends and family.

We made this our base for a week with the children, and the modern apartments were comfortable and VERY spacious. The view from ours was stunning, with Watzmann and much of Berchtesgadener land in sight without anything blocking it. Malterlehen sits in Oberau, just outside Berchtesgarden, and Andreas and Ingrid gave us really helpful local tour advice. There's a restaurant about 100m away with a lovely traditional beer garden. For food to take on a day hike, I'd recommend sandwiches from the deli just down the road, at the corner of Saltzburger St. and Auer St. We were impressed from the moment we arrived.

The hosts were so warm and helpful, always available, and we felt welcome right from the start. Our apartment was quiet and cozy, very clean, thoughtfully furnished, and had everything we needed. We had a truly lovely stay and would definitely come back. I wholeheartedly recommend it.
