The wait between courses was the part that really dragged. Sometimes half an hour passed, and it felt more like a badly organized kitchen than a thoughtful pause. We paid 124 euros altogether for two beers, a glass of wine, and our child's pasta, which wasn't good. The meal itself cost 48 euros per person before drinks, and I didn't find that fair for what we got. There was no à la carte choice, just a four-course surprise menu, which was fine with us, and we added pasta with tomato sauce for our child. The food started with a very small, plain spinach soup, maybe three or four spoonfuls, then a little green salad with red turnips and a tiny piece of lake fish. The main course was two slices of crispy-skinned chicken, which tasted good, with chard, pumpkin, and onions. Dessert was a decent but familiar parfait and chocolate cake. The ingredients may have been regional and organic, but they didn't justify the price to me. We booked after hearing good things from a friend and reading positive reviews. Making the reservation by email was difficult since nobody answered the phone, and the staff didn't exactly encourage us to book. Still, we found a table by reserving ten days ahead. If you want local Mecklenburg-Vorpommern food, I'd sooner get a smoked fish sandwich at one of the region's Imbisses than spend this kind of money at a Gasthof like this.
