Best Western President

The Presidential suite had nice decor, but it was hot, damp and airless, with no working air conditioning. Reception said the hotel was full and nothing could be done, even after I said I couldn't sleep in the room. They explained that only a small number of rooms have balconies, and suggested requesting a balcony suite and room style when booking. I had asked why my room didn't look like the balcony rooms on the website. I asked to speak to the Manager, Mr Jan Brownshweiht. I was told he didn't work onsite but would call me. I heard that answer Friday night, Saturday day and night, and Sunday. The wifi, according to reception, is limited to 30 guests at a time, and it logs you off every ten minutes. Today, after returning to the UK, I called BW customer care in Phoenix to complain. I hope they give my complaint proper support.

We come here often and have always had good experiences. It's conveniently located near several public transport options, and Kurfürstendamm and KaDeWe are within walking distance. After a long day exploring the city, we like having a drink in the bar, though unfortunately it's a smoking bar. On our last visit, we also had a very good dinner in the restaurant.

Breakfast is really good and has plenty to choose from, and the service is very good. Just don't book a triple room expecting three proper beds, it's a double room with a small camping bed added. In the evening, the wifi is often full of users, so you can't connect, and you have to authenticate every time you use it.

The food is generally OK and the service is friendly. The room itself was good overall, but the internet was terrible, very slow and frequently cutting out. That's my main complaint, and it matters a lot for business travelers. At least it was free.
