Hotel Carolinenhof

Breakfast had plenty of healthy choices, and the room felt roomy with a pretty view of the garden. Getting around was easy since the hotel is close to central Berlin and the subway. We’d stay again on our next trip.

We had no complaints during our four days in Berlin. Hotel Carolinenhof was good value, with a huge room, friendly staff and a really good breakfast. They even gave our baby a plush toy.

The breakfast is a highlight for me, lots of variety and enough to keep me going until evening. The women preparing and serving it are lovely and efficient. My room has always been clean, bright, comfortable and spacious, and the hotel is quiet, which matters to me. Two U-Bahn stations are just a few minutes away with good connections, and reception staff are friendly and helpful. This was my third stay, May 9 to 16. I’ll be back in Berlin many times, and Hotel Carolinenhof will be my first choice.

There was no safe in the room, and the mattresses were much too soft and worn, with uncomfortable pillows too. For €240 for two nights, I expected better. There was no ventilation or air conditioning, just a fan you had to request at reception, despite temperatures above 30°C outside. Keeping the windows open brought in some air, but also a lot of noise: construction drilling from around 6-7 a.m., car doors slamming, and loud voices outside. A small, noisy electric meter was also right by the bed, hidden behind the curtains and close to your ear.
