Jugendherberge Berlin - Am Wannsee - Hostel

The room was clean and okay, and there was free parking right next to the place. The people were really nice, and breakfast was super good!

After more than two months here across 2024 and 2025, I found it a really good base for groups doing trainings, camps, meetings, or trips with friends. It’s easy to get into Berlin on either the S7 or S1. The meeting rooms are great, and the rooms are nice too. It’s a youth hostel, so don’t expect a high-end standard, but the atmosphere is very nice. Biggest shoutout to the staff, especially Silvija and Martin, who are the best to work with when handling group bookings and things like that.

I was here with a group of young people in 1986, and from the photos it looks like nothing has changed. The bunk beds and furniture are the same, as is the outside area and the bathroom shared between two rooms. I thought it would have been renovated, but apparently it hasn’t. I also remember that we weren’t allowed to stay inside during the day. It didn’t matter much since we spent our week exploring Berlin.

The location is quite far from any station or bus stop, and the taxi was a ripoff. They tried to cheat us, and the driver barely spoke English. At reception, the English was also very limited. One day my friends asked what kind of food was available for dinner, but the receptionist misunderstood and ordered dinner for our whole group. We didn’t pay for it, but the staff couldn’t really explain what had happened or discuss it properly. It’s a pity, because the food itself is nice. They also don’t let people use the elevator except in very exceptional circumstances, which shocked me. We knew it was a youth hostel, so the value for money was about what you’d expect.
