COSMO Hotel Berlin Mitte

We were given a complimentary upgrade to a Deluxe Room, and the staff were friendly and made us feel welcome. The location is fantastic, with subway and bus services right nearby, just a few stops from Alexanderplatz and Potsdamer Platz. Lots of sights are also within walking distance, and there are bakeries, grocery stores, and restaurants close by. Breakfast was decent, but getting anything other than filter coffee meant ordering from a waiter, which caused needless waits and interrupted the flow. The eggs were a nice option, though mine arrived cold 3 out of 4 times because the staff were so busy. We couldn't get the shower water to stay at one temperature, it swung from cold to scalding hot no matter what we tried. The room also climbed above 24C overnight unless we opened a window. Technical staff looked at the temperature problem, but nothing changed. The "gym" was a VERY cramped room with some decent equipment. Less would have been more there.

The front desk staff were friendly, the hotel is in a great location, and our room was very big and spacious. Housekeeping was a letdown, though. They didn't change the sheets unless we asked, and after I accidentally spilled a little juice on the bed, they covered it with blankets instead of changing the sheets. The air conditioning didn't work as promised. The manager said it should start working within an hour of being turned on, but it never did. The blinds also opened at random, which raised privacy concerns. It was a good stay overall, but housekeeping and air conditioning need improvement.

The location worked for us, and we walked everywhere. The underground is very close and easy to reach. Our room was large and overlooked the park, with a very big bathroom and a separate toilet room. We arrived in the early evening, went out for dinner after unpacking, and came back to find no towels. There was no evening room service, so I had to go to reception to collect them. There were no tea or coffee making facilities either, and you have to ask reception for a kettle. The staff were OK, and the barman on our second day was especially attentive.

We'd happily return if we're in Berlin again. The metro station is right next door, and the staff were all very friendly. Our room was a great size and very clean, and the temperature stayed perfect even though it was 28 degrees outside. The beds were comfortable, but the pillows were very flat, my only complaint. Breakfast was nice, and the baby cot was clean and comfortable. The bathroom had a lovely large bath and a hand rail that made getting out easier.
