Homaris East Side - Self- Check In

The bed was very comfortable, and check-in with the code was smooth. My room looked freshly renovated and had everything I needed. I also liked being able to open the window all the way, which you can't do in many hotels.

The location is very convenient, and check-in is automated, but I left feeling the place was a work in progress with a lot to fix. The price seems lower than Uber Platz because of the reconstruction, and the value for the quality is poor. One small concern with the code-based setup: what happens if your phone runs out of battery while you're out and you forget the code? The room was cozy, but cleanliness was really questionable. I had to wipe the toilet seat when I arrived, and there was literally feces on the inside. Some lower-floor rooms apparently have no curtains, while the upper floors seem to have them, which is bizarre. There was also a lot of noise from outside and the corridors. They provide earplugs, which gives you some warning. The building still feels under reconstruction. The first thing you see is a messy maintenance room, the elevator seems questionable, and cables hang out of the walls in several places. I used the elevator once, then took the stairs for the rest of my stay. As a woman staying alone, I didn't feel very safe. They should install locks, or at least an inside chain.

The rooms were comfortable and clean, with a great shower, and had everything needed for a quick visit. Public transport makes it easy to get to central Berlin, and the East Side gallery is right across the road. I stayed for two nights.

There’s no front desk or cleaning service, and the only help is a useless AI chatbot. It feels like they’ve tried to reinvent the wheel and made it worse. You book a hotel expecting some benefits over Airbnb, but end up with the worst of both worlds. The shower has no barrier at the bathroom floor, so water spreads everywhere. Since the floor doesn’t slope toward the drain, it just sits in puddles. Great if you want to go fishing. The lift is very old, slow, and unreliable, so you may get fit taking the stairs. The WiFi is bad too. Maybe they should get the basics right before adding last year's hot tech with the chatbot.
