Grand Hyatt Berlin

The spa was the worst part of the stay. When problems came up, staff seemed uninterested in fixing them or finding a guest-friendly solution, and that left a really bad impression. The room was also hard to rest in. Noise carried from the hall and outside, and I could even feel vibrations when people walked nearby or in the room above. For a five-star hotel, the soundproofing was shockingly poor. There were smaller frustrations too: although we had prepaid through Booking.com, I was asked to pay again at check-in and had to sort it out with staff. Room service delivery cost €7, and we were given only one bottle of water. That feels like too much to charge at this price level. This was my second disappointing experience with a Grand Hyatt that presents itself as a luxury hotel. The unprofessional handling of concerns surprised me, and after this stay and unresolved issues at another Grand Hyatt, I won't choose the brand again.

The pillows and duvet were the one real downside for us. The feather pillows felt hard and heavy, with feathers getting all over the room. My husband woke up with what felt like a “broken neck” and a terrible headache, and it lasted two days. Still, we were glad we stayed at Grand Hyatt again. It was our second visit, mainly because of the location. Reception and room service were both wonderful, and the rooms are very spacious with everything we needed. Water, tea, and coffee were replenished daily on request. Breakfast had lots of choices. The restaurant was a little above average in price, but the food was delicious and felt worth it. The bar was too expensive for us, so we tried places nearby instead. The Christmas decorations were lovely and gave the hotel a festive feel as soon as we walked in.

The rooftop was empty whenever we went up, so we could take in the city views by day or night without dealing with crowds. The sauna and pool were a really nice way to unwind after sightseeing, too. The whole place feels high quality, down to details like the faucets, doors, furniture, art, and lighting. It all fits Berlin's look, and the location and amenities are great.

The wellness area was a real plus: there’s a long indoor pool for laps, a big whirlpool, sauna, and steam room. It was clean and well kept. Towels are there, sturdy reusable spa slippers are available, and bathrobes are already in the room. There aren’t many loungers when it gets busy, though. My King Room on the 7th floor was spacious, quiet, and clean, with a comfortable king bed, effective blackout curtains, fast stable Wi-Fi, and a practical layout. The bathroom had a tub and plenty of good quality supplies, including dental and shaving kits, cotton pads, and bath salts. Still and sparkling water were provided daily. The shower and bath controls were a little confusing and could be simpler. Club access is well worth considering. The lounge is roomy and comfortable, with about 15-20 tables, a large TV, and a relaxed feel. Drinks are available all day, from Fever-Tree mixers and Coca-Cola in several varieties to water, juice, and coffee from espresso to latte macchiato. There are about ten kinds of tea. Fresh fruit such as apples and bananas is available outside breakfast, afternoon tea, and evening service, which includes vegetarian food. It’s partly self-service, and there were always two helpful staff members around. Staff were excellent throughout. Check-in was smooth, and I was able to arrive well before the official 3 PM time. The concierge, security, and luggage teams were efficient and professional. They remembered my name, and the personalized welcome on the TV was a nice touch. It would be nice to have more seating, charging points, water, or small refreshments in the main lobby waiting area. The hotel is centrally placed near Potsdamer Platz and major sights. Construction made vehicle access a bit awkward, so Voxstraße, at the side entrance, was the most reliable way in and the best spot for taxis. A small inconvenience, but useful to know. This was a comfortable, well run stay with thoughtful details and a particularly good Club Lounge. I’d happily return and recommend it for business or leisure.
