There was a lovely view from the restaurant and terrace, and the two elevators worked fine for us. The hotel's clearly popular, with German, Italian, French, Chinese, and many other languages around. At checkout they kept our bags for a few hours for free while we took one last walk around Berlin before going to the airport. Thanks to the whole team for the kindness and hospitality. We know where we'll stay in Berlin next time. Special thanks to Hernando, Christina, Dasha, and the wonderful chef. Good luck! The four of us stayed in two standard double rooms from September 10th to 17th, 2025, at a great price. We'd booked ahead, and when our flight was rescheduled, the hotel let us add a night before our planned check-in for the same rate. We arrived a little early and they stored our bags for free while we walked around before check-in. The location is lively and convenient, with all kinds of transport close by and lots of shops, cafes, and restaurants within walking distance. Reception, kitchen, and maintenance staff were all friendly and helpful. The rooms were spacious, simple, functional, and very clean. My wife, Tanya, is particular about cleanliness and especially appreciated how well the rooms were cleaned. We visited in the cooler months and didn't miss having air conditioning. My childhood friends in different German cities don't have it either, so it may be a general local trend. Breakfast may be a little expensive, but it had plenty of variety and tasted great, especially the apple pie. I was full, and I'm a big guy. There was also a wide choice of drinks.
I stayed here for the 2025 IFA expo. The location was great and the room was clean. Still, the service was poor. The facilities are old, which is fine, but no notice was posted to explain that the elevator was out when I checked in, so I had to carry my luggage up one floor. The curtain let in quite a lot of light and disrupted my sleep, and the kettle and phone in room 208 were broken.
The rooms were dirty and old, and smelled of garlic. The elevator wasn't working, and there was no answer on the ground floor intercom, even though reception was on the seventh floor. The service was terrible and management seemed very poor. One man did try to help, but the whole management team should find something else to do. The staff were awful. Mooni was hostile and demanded another 30 euros to let me into the room, even though I showed evidence that I'd paid 108 euros more than her paperwork showed. The manager had forbidden staff from calling her. I have more to say, but no time to write it all. Stay away. A hostel would be a better choice than this lousy hotel.
The location is handy, very close to both the subway and train station, just a few stops from the city centre. There are lots of places to eat nearby, as well as a cinema and 24-hour shops. The room on the second floor had no view, but was generally clean and quiet. The heating could be adjusted. The pillows need replacing, since clean cases aren't enough, and the toilet seat could have been cleaner. Some of the receptionists could be more polite and smile, it costs nothing. Still, the stay was okay and we enjoyed it. With a few improvements, it could be a four-star hotel.
Domicil Hotel is in an excellent location, but the interior is badly outdated and the place is poorly serviced. Customers should be aware. My family had booked and paid in advance. At checkout at 8:30 in the morning, the receptionist said we owed another 36 euros. I asked twice what the charge was and got no answer. When I asked if it was city tax, he said yes. I requested an invoice, and he gave me one for two days of breakfast, though we hadn't eaten breakfast there. He was rude and insisted we had. After I pushed back, he checked with the staff and the breakfast log, then found we hadn't had breakfast and reversed the charge. He never apologized for the mistake. The checks took half an hour, and we nearly missed our return trip. His rude manner and lack of remorse made it seem like this was his usual way of handling things.
