Hotel Kleist

The neighborhood is lovely, leafy, and quiet, with little cafés, bakeries, and grocery shops close by, and the building itself is a beautiful historic one. It’s a simple but fair place to stay in western Berlin. The rooms and furniture are dated and could use renovation, although most of the issues are cosmetic. One thing to know: street parking officially costs 13 euro per day, not 8 as the hotel website says.

I asked for a late check-in when I booked and never heard back. A month later I followed up, and they told me to cancel because replying would be too expensive, then said they don’t do late check-ins. Hahaha. The receptionist was extremely unprofessional. I wouldn't book here.

The room was quaint and elegant, with amazing views, and I never had trouble finding a parking spot by the main entrance. You do need a parking pass from the concierge, so parking can be tricky. The building is beautiful and close to the heart of downtown Berlin. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly, and high-end shopping and romantic restaurants are less than a block away. Five stars all the way!

There’s a metro station nearby, and the hotel sits nicely in the middle of the city. The rooms are spacious and the beds are firm, although the creaky floors will probably wake people in your room. Breakfast is served here, with plenty to choose from despite the limited variety. For the price, it’s very good value.
