Industriepalast Hostel Berlin

For 28 euros, I got a clean, practical single room, a tidy bathroom, and a great view. It was also very quiet, so I slept well. The hostel is between Warschauer Straße station and Oberbaumbrücke, which worked perfectly for me. I'd definitely recommend it.

The location is good, and the staff are nice, but the train station right next door means there's noise. The mattresses and pillows are very thin. In the shower, you have to keep pressing the button or the water stops. My friends and I had bug bites, so I think there may be bugs in the beds. Kitchen and fridge access is only from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.; having them open 24/7 would be better.

The guest kitchen doesn't have proper cooking knives. I was also told by another guest on my last night that his bed had bed bugs. A friend had warned me that he'd brought a bed bug infestation home after staying here the year before, so I checked the mattress. Sure enough, there was a pile of eggs. I took a photo and showed the front desk. They were friendly, but said it might be what was left after an infestation had been dealt with. Either they'd exterminated and not cleaned up, or someone had done a quick check and called it finished. They moved me to another room, where the empty beds passed my inspection.

We shared a six-person room with a bathroom and toilet. The room was really comfortable, and the bathroom was very clean and well kept. We arrived early and were lucky that our room was ready. The staff were very friendly, stored our bags in a locker before check-in or after checkout, and suggested some nice places to visit in Berlin. The location was decent, next to the M10 tram line for getting around the city. Bring your own locker locks if you can, since that saves nearly €5. I'd recommend this hostel if you're visiting Berlin with friends.
