The hotel was clean, and the property seemed to be in good general condition. Staff and service were mostly OK, though some were very good and others very poor. I have a serious problem with the facilities: photos on the hotel's homepage and on apps such as Expedia show a swimming pool, but it isn't part of the hotel and sits across the road. That fact only appears in the small print, which I consider unethical advertising. We booked because we believed there was a pool, but the public pool was closed, so we couldn't use it. The riverside location and surrounding area are quite nice. Our room was noisy in the morning, probably because it was above reception, with people coming and going. Parking is very limited, and we got the very last space when we arrived. It was a tight fit.

We only booked for one night, but would like to return. The room was beautiful, and there were lovely decorated corners throughout the hotel. Breakfast was plentiful, with different breads, spreads, and hot dishes. Parking right outside was free, and there were plenty of pleasant trails leading toward the town center. There's lots of history there, with occasional information signs offering audio in English and German.

Between visits to Helgoland and Schiermonnikoog, we spent a night at this clean, fairly cozy hotel and were upgraded to a family mezzanine suite. The beds felt like Mercedes Benz seats from the 1960-ies, hard but comfortable. The pillows were hard and uncomfortable, though. The shower was in a bathtub with a worn anti-slip pattern that could be dangerous for older people. They were missing a shoehorn. Breakfast was fine for the star rating, and the staff were kind and efficient.

The breakfast buffet was amazing, better than at most hotels. It's a beautiful, cozy place with friendly staff. I can definitely recommend it, and we'll stay here again.
