One of our rooms smelled so strongly of excrement that it was unbearable. We were three people, each with a separate room booked, but on arrival we were given rooms with bunk beds, like a hostel or children’s camp. When we asked for the single-bed rooms we had booked and paid for, the staff, one with the last name Lee and the other named Henry, were extremely rude. They told us to cancel and go wherever we wanted, at 10 p.m. after a long flight. At first they said no other rooms were available. Later we got one proper room, and overheard them discussing calling security to remove us. Eventually they provided two rooms, but one still had bunk beds and was changed only the next day. This was an awful experience. I’ve never had hotel staff treat me with such disrespect, and I sincerely hope people like this don’t continue working in the service industry.

The reception staff are good-natured, but there’s almost nothing provided in the room, no tea makers, slippers, and so on. The rooms are completely basic. There’s no separate door for the bathroom and toilet, so the sound and smell can be annoying. The heating can’t be adjusted, and it cuts out when you remove the card, making it hard to keep the room warm. The location is good for seeing most tourist attractions.

The room is tiny but clean and functional, which feels like a fair trade for this location and the quality of the breakfast. The hotel is lovely and clean, with excellent transport links across Berlin. Breakfast was great too. I’d definitely stay here again.
