Locke at East Side Gallery

We spent a lot of time on the balcony, watching the river traffic and cormorants. The lovely apartment room on the fifth floor was cosy enough that we didn’t need the heating, and the bathroom was spacious. Broadband was super fast, and it was a relaxing place to stay with a great atmosphere and friendly staff. The cafe downstairs was busy because it’s also a co-working space, but we always found a table. The food there was wonderful. We also had dinner on Tuesday jazz night, with excellent food, small plates as well as a main menu, great cocktails, and a relaxed feel. It’s not far from the train station, and I’d definitely return.

After a long journey and a stressful trip, staying here turned the whole holiday around. Niko at the front desk was incredibly accommodating, professional, and helpful. He got us checked in smoothly and shared all the information we needed. His local tips were spot on, and he knew the hotel inside out. He worked so quickly and efficiently that you’d think he was the manager. I never usually leave hotel reviews, but this place deserves one, and so does Niko. 10/10, highly recommend. The location is beautiful, right by the river, with trees and a bit of nature in the city. Part of the Berlin Wall monument, transport, and lots of restaurants are within walking distance. There’s an amazing cafe and restaurant downstairs, plus a gym and laundry rooms. This is one of the nicest hotels we’ve stayed at anywhere in Germany. I can’t imagine staying somewhere else next time we’re in Berlin.

The room and kitchenette were convenient, the shower was excellent, and reception service was very good. We were happy with our four nights at Locke in October 2025 and would recommend it for a stay in Berlin. We got a bit lucky with a river-facing room on the fourth floor of an eight-floor building. The lifts didn’t work most of the time, which could be hard for someone on a higher floor who isn’t physically fit. The room also hadn’t been thoroughly cleaned before we arrived. I found dust in several places and cleaned some shelves myself with sanitizer.

The river-side upgrade was worth every penny. Millie, I think that was her name, suggested it, and she was amazing. I stayed for a week on Berlin’s east side, close to everything around, with a restaurant below, a rooftop bar, loads of coworking space, and clean rooms with lovely products. I wish I’d bought them, but I forgot the brand. The team was incredible in every department, and the overnight front desk staff deserve a special mention. I’d meant to return in September for work but had to reschedule. I’ll be back next summer and hope to stay for two weeks. I don’t think there’s a better serviced apartment or hotel in this area. To the NEW CEO: the staff at this location are far better than anything I’ve experienced in this hotel category. They make the place feel relaxed, comfortable, and laid back. Please give the front desk crew, especially the overnight team, raises, bonuses, or whatever benefits you can. The staff are what make this place special.
