M-Pire Hotel Berlin

Good value for the price.

Breakfast was fresh, varied, and carefully prepared, and the hotel had a cozy, peaceful feel despite being right in the heart of Berlin. My room was spotless and stylish, with thoughtful details throughout. The staff were warm and attentive from check-in onward. I had a wonderful stay and would happily come back.

The breakfast was basic but okay. We were surprised the room was so empty, though staff said it was always like that. We had booked a superior room and were looking forward to it, but several things were wrong. The sheets were torn, there were no toothbrush cups, and the shower was so unclean I didn't want to use it. We also had to set up the TV ourselves. Another guest helped, since nobody else could assist until Monday, but the Wi-Fi was so weak that the picture kept freezing and we couldn't watch anything Saturday night. I'm very disappointed and still wonder how this hotel got four stars. We won't stay here again.

The room was missing both shampoo and shower gel, which was disappointing for a 4-star hotel. We were also unable to get a restful night's sleep: the queen-size bed in the superior double room we'd booked had a badly worn, poor-quality mattress that squeaked loudly whenever anyone moved, and our son woke several times from the noise. We stayed with our family, and the receptionist was unfriendly and unhelpful. The whole visit was unpleasant, and I wouldn't recommend this hotel.
