Melarose Feng Shui Hotel

I was waking up over and over and ended up seriously short on sleep. I’d booked this hotel because I needed proper rest, and assumed that a “feng shui” hotel would be a good fit. The room was basic but clean, and the service seemed fine, though I never interacted with the staff. The walls are thin, so I heard a lot from the neighbours, along with street noise. The room was hot at night even though it was only 10°C outside. The mattress felt cheap and the pillow was really uncomfortable. Looking back, I don’t understand the “feng shui” name, since even basic interior feng shui principles don’t seem to be followed. I found that misleading.

The owners were very friendly and helpful, and check-out at 12 was perfect. I slept well in a good bed, and the room had tea and coffee facilities and a good shower. It’s a lovely, quiet hotel with a generous breakfast put together with care. A perfect base for exploring vibrant Berlin. Highly recommended, and we’ll definitely return next time. There are restaurants, coffee shops, bars, and a great bakery just around the corner, and the neighborhood is nice. The room was comfortable, and there were no stairs between the elevator and the room. Breakfast was good at 16 €.

We had a late check-out until 12.00, which was nice, and the owners were really friendly. Breakfast was great too, especially the croissants and the fresh fruit, hummus, and other bits. The location worked well for us, in Bötzovietel/Winsviertel, Prenzlauer Berg and close to Friedrichchain. Tram 4 to city center Mitte is right outside, and Tram 10 is just around the corner, running via the cafe and vintage area at Oderbergerstr and Kastanien allee to Gedenkstatte Berlin Wall and Hbf. We stayed three nights last weekend for 115 euro per night for a double room. Ours was one of the larger rooms. It wasn't huge, but it was tidy and had a nice feel. You can hear traffic, and the curtains let light in, though an eye mask and earplugs solve that. If you forget earplugs, there are some in the room, along with a water cooker. I'd definitely consider staying here again.
