I was traveling with my dad, and the hotel worked well for us, mainly because of its location. It was clean and quiet, and the staff were kind and always available. I was really disappointed that there wasn’t any gluten-free food at breakfast. For a four-star hotel, I expected at least some bread, but all they had was mixed nuts. Still, it was a good stay.

We had everything we needed here, and it was a great place to land in Berlin. The room was bright and sunny, the place was clean enough, and the staff were friendly. They found somewhere for our bikes and are keeping our bike bags for free until we return from our trip, which is amazing. There’s a lovely little coffee shop a few doors down too. The hotel has character: funky elevators, a great bar, and a lovely sauna. It’s funky in a good way, a no vibe.

The hotel was fine and a bit cheaper than others nearby, but the dated feel and odd quirks made the reason for the lower price clear. The biggest issue was the air conditioning: Booking.com advertised it, but the hotel doesn’t switch it on until May. We stayed in mid-April during a sunny 27-degree day, and the room was unbearably hot even with all the windows open. I called at midnight to ask about turning on the AC, but they said no. They did find a fan for me, which helped. Our room was also four corridors away from the elevator, and the stairs there were locked from the outside.

The location was great, close to the underground and within walking distance of the canal and Museum Island. We spent four nights here on a girls’ trip and had a wonderful time. I arrived early and asked if our two rooms could be near each other. The young man at the desk sorted it out in minutes. While we waited, we enjoyed complimentary cold lemon water and chocolates in the lobby. Our rooms were light, airy, and spacious, with tea and coffee facilities, a fridge, and a safe. The hotel also left water bottles for all guests, which we really appreciated. Comfortable and convenient, highly recommended!
