Pegasus Hostel

The hotel is only three metro stops from Alexanderplatz, and the rooms were quiet and clean. Service was good too. Every morning, the lady preparing breakfast greeted us with a smile. She was really kind and kept trying to make something new each day. We didn't have lunch or dinner there, though I imagine the food is just as good.

Rosa and Andrés were especially kind, friendly, and helpful, and the rest of the staff were supportive too. The kitchen has the basic things you need, and I was pleasantly surprised by how well the staff kept the shared spaces clean. One of Berlin's best budget hostels, in my view.

Getting around Berlin was easy from Pegasus Hostel. Weberwiese U-Bahn station and Ostbahnhof regional station are both a short walk away. The staff at reception, in the dining area, and in housekeeping always greeted our group warmly and were cooperative. Coming from the other side of the world, we felt at home there. I was especially reassured by how safe and reliable the place felt. I'd had a bad experience with theft at a well-known European hostel chain a few years earlier, but felt secure throughout this stay. We spent nearly two weeks there last summer on an educational trip with a group of 9th grade students. Our dorm rooms had four or six beds, all bunk beds, and were spacious enough, with hangers and small desks. The self-service kitchen and laundry were a big help for a group our size. Being able to make simple meals and do laundry ourselves made the long stay easier and more enjoyable for teachers and students alike. The seminar room became the center of our daily program. Students used it for discussions, reflection, and small group presentations, and many later said it made the hostel feel like a second home for learning and community. I had been in close contact with the group manager, Vahap, from the start of planning. Over more than 100 emails exchanged since the beginning of the year, he patiently and kindly helped us work through every detail, from room assignments and check-in to meals and seminar facilities. His support meant we were fully prepared. I'd happily return next year and recommend Pegasus Hostel to groups or individual travelers looking for a welcoming, supportive, and safe place in Berlin.

The shared kitchen is large and works well for a longer stay if you're trying to save money. You can rent pots, pans, knives, and similar things, but bring your own baking paper, dish soap, salt, and so on. For a hostel, the rooms were nice, and the bathroom was clean.
