Pension Lette Eck

Getting around was easy, with good bus and subway connections, and the staff were super nice. But the service doesn't deserve a star, and I still wouldn't recommend Pension Lette Eck. I stayed seven days in a single room. It really was just somewhere to sleep. The full bill was due at check-in, which felt a bit unsettling. On day one, the bathroom light was out; I reported it, but nobody fixed it. The heater in there only got lukewarm on its highest setting. The shower itself was clean and nice, though what came afterward wasn't. The website promised a hairdryer, but there wasn't one. When I asked, I was told the guesthouse doesn't have any, and the person at the “reception” seemed surprised it was listed online. After the first night the blinds stopped coming down. I didn't bother reporting that, since it wouldn't have helped anyway 😂. The high-speed internet instructions on the table also need updating, since they only apply to Windows XP. I put “reception” in quotes because it was in the bar next door. The whole hallway smelled of cigarette smoke, though my room didn't. If you're staying here, bring your own hairdryer 😂.

I keep coming back to this friendly old corner pub in the Lette neighborhood of Reinickendorf. The wooden interior is shown in the photos, and the restrooms are clean. It's mostly men in there, though not only men. Prices are good: three beers and a Coke cost €10.50. They have shots, plus non-alcoholic Erdinger and Hefeweizen. You can order food from outside, and there's a late-night convenience store close by.
