Wallyard Concept Hostel

I had an issue with my booking, but the reception guys sorted everything out and were the sweetest 🫶🏻. My private double room was clean, with comfy beds, though it could use a wardrobe. There was only a table and two chairs. The hostel is three minutes from the tram and 10-15 minutes from the S ban, which goes straight to the airport. I’d absolutely recommend it for a weekend.

We stayed in a three-bed room with two friends, and it worked well for us. The room was big enough and the beds were comfortable. The staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful, especially Agustin. There’s a tram or bus connection, and a small mall next door with lots of shops and a big supermarket. The shared bathroom was a little small, with two showers and one toilet for three rooms, and it could use better lighting. Still, we could use it whenever we wanted without running into anyone. Soap and towels aren’t included, so bring your own or rent a towel for 2'5€. Those downsides were minor, and I’d definitely recommend the place to a friend.

The rooms and showers were clean, though the toilets and one sink had plumbing problems. Fixing those would have earned a higher rating. Even so, the quality felt good for what I paid. I had a very pleasant stay. The staff were friendly and helpful, and gave me some wonderful suggestions for places to visit. Public transport is nearby, and you can also rent a bicycle for a reasonable price.

The hostel itself was fine, with the kind of rooms and bathrooms you’d expect, plus a nice reception and cafe area. It was a shame the common area had very limited opening hours and there was no shared kitchen, since those are usually some of the benefits of a hostel. I came back after a day out and found all my things removed from the room locker. I believe the cleaning staff thought the room was empty. There was no reception or help available after hours, so I had to spend the night without my possessions. I hoped it would be sorted in the morning and turn out to be a misunderstanding, but it was completely unacceptable that it happened at all. It was indeed a misunderstanding. Augustine at reception was extremely helpful and apologetic the next morning, and they refunded the rest of my stay plus one night. They resolved it really well in the end, but the mistake was so serious that I can’t give a high rating. Imagine if I’d had a flight the next morning or essential medication in my luggage that I couldn’t access.
