Hotel Bären

Do NOT stay here. I booked three rooms for eight nights for work, but the job finished early. I gave notice that I was checking out early and was still charged an extra $1,500.00 for the three rooms over the final three nights. The hotel said Booking had charged them, so they had to charge me. I contacted Booking, and they were willing to refund me, but the hotel wasn't. The room also wasn't what had been advertised: I paid for an upgrade after being shown a room with a balcony. That would not have been my main complaint if not for the charge. No shame.

The owner's treatment of the touring group I was with was rude and hostile. Apparently, he had brought in a “no touch” policy for Covid containment. No other hotel nearby had one. At breakfast, instead of reminding guests about it, he yelled at and berated them. It was incredibly unprofessional. We were a group of English and American guests, so I wondered if that was the issue. I didn't see him berating the German guests. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone.

The river views were lovely, and the staff were friendly. They made a fresh, delicious breakfast, including scrambled eggs cooked to order. The hotel has a cozy teddy bear theme. My single room was a little snug, but still very nice.

There was no refrigerator, so in winter we used the outside window sill. The rooms were small but okay. We had been told there would be a lift, but there wasn't one in our building, and there were two buildings.
