The breakfast was excellent, and I’d stay here again for the German experience. After hiking up from the railway station, it was nice to be able to relax. We were there for one night, and the owner was friendly, welcoming, and accommodating.

We were with a group and got a room facing the road, with no fan. It’s on Bingen’s busiest road, opposite a church, so with the window open we barely slept. The owner didn’t seem to understand why that was a problem. The room was run-down, the bathroom had no ventilation, and the whole place felt neglected. There are plenty of better places to stay in Bingen. This couple doesn’t deserve the business.

My German friend recommended Hotel Römerhof in Bingen, and the stay was fantastic. The rooms are lovely and give the place a real German feel. It’s run by an elderly couple, and the owner himself takes care of the kitchen and cooked eggs for me. Breakfast downstairs had a good range of hot and cold options. It’s about a five-minute drive from the Rhine Valley. You can take a boat across the Rhine to see the vineyards, or visit the Christmas market in Rüdesheimer and try hot wine. Bingen is known for white wine, so a winery visit for dinner and a tasting is well worth considering.

The couple who host this place are so warm and welcoming. They do a great job of making you feel like family, and the staff are really helpful. I’d definitely come back.
