Pension Haus Monika

We stayed here with my wife last June and liked the pension. Monika, the owner, was friendly, and the place itself is absolutely nice and cute. When we checked out, we booked a room again for August 21. Monika Funk confirmed it, printed the booking confirmation and handed it to us. On August 16, we also got a reminder email from easybooking.com on her behalf, so we thought everything was set. My wife had already rented a chauffeur-driven car for a meeting in Bisbingen on August 22, and I needed to drive to a meeting in Hamburg at six that morning. We were coming from the Rostock area, and when we were close to the pension on Friday, August 21, we called. To our surprise, Ms. Monika said she had completely forgotten our reservation. She apologized, which was kind, but said there were no other rooms because it was high season. That was why we had booked almost two and a half months earlier. She said no hotels were available at that moment either, and directed us to one 20 kilometers farther away. I explained our situation and suggested she cover the extra driver fee caused by the change. It seemed fair to me, but after hearing that offer, she hung up without saying anything else. We didn’t want to go to the hotel she suggested because of the distance. I called a lot of hotels I found online, and luckily we found one in the center that was even closer. Fortunately, I had internet, and we didn’t have to pay more for the rental car or driver. People forget things and make mistakes, nobody’s perfect, and that part is okay. What wasn’t okay was not taking responsibility for the mistake. I’m writing this after high season because of our first visit to Monika Pension. Maybe it’s a good idea to call ahead for a double check.
