Vivadi Hotel Downtown Munich

The location was a real plus, close to the city center, station, and Oktoberfest. Staff were friendly and attentive, and check-in and check-out were quick. The Italian restaurant attached to the hotel was very good, with excellent food at reasonable prices, and Vi Vadi Rustico nearby was also very good. We stayed twice for three nights during Oktoberfest, in two different rooms. In the first, the bathroom had been updated, though the rest of the room needed a few touch-ups. There were some pizza boxes in the fridge, but reception removed them quickly after we mentioned it. The second room needed more work: its bathroom door showed moisture marks, the extractor fan didn't work, and there were several holes in the wall paint. Both rooms had two single beds and a rollaway for the three of us. The queen-size beds were comfortable, but the rollaway was less so, and the pillows felt like stuffed pillowcases. With no air conditioning, we had to leave the window open to sleep and could hear the street. Rooms are cleaned on odd-numbered days of the week, but on our second stay we came back at 4 p.m. to rest and it still hadn't been cleaned.

A colleague booked this room for its advertised kitchen facilities, but on arrival was told that, because the reservation was through Booking.com, using the kitchen already in the room would cost an extra 5-10€ per day. That charge hadn't been clearly explained when booking, and being told they couldn't use the kitchen without paying more felt misleading and unprofessional. Guests may want to check ahead whether kitchen use is included in the room price.

The room has a mini kitchen, but no cooking utensils come with the room rate. Even a standard small frying pan costs 5 euros per day, and that wasn't mentioned in the description. Be careful when booking, especially if you expect to cook in your room.

The room was clean and close to the city center, but I couldn't sleep because of the noise outside. We were on the street side, and it was extremely loud. I asked at reception during check-in for an inner room, but they were all booked. It felt like we had no window. The shower gel and shampoo hadn't been refilled.
