Astoria Hotel

We had a triple room for our family and it worked out perfectly. It was quiet at the back of the property, very clean, and the breakfast was great. The staff made us feel welcome. We used the free parking since we drove, but the lot entrance is tight, so take care.

For our short Bonn trip, this felt like a good bargain. We stayed one night in November, and the clean room fit two parents and two kids just right. The streetcar passes right outside and makes a little noise, but we still slept fine. Lidl is an easy walk for snacks, and the staff were very friendly.

Crossing the tram tracks can take ages at the level crossings. I once waited 25 minutes while seven trains went by one after another in both directions. Use the Fußgängerbrücke Katharina-Focke-Straße, which only has stairs, or the underpasses at Königsstrasse or Poppeldorfer Allee instead. The hotel itself was a pleasant stay and good value. It’s a little basic in its furnishings and facilities, but tidy throughout, with a clean bathroom and working internet. Staff were great, check-in and checkout were easy, and they even gave me a complimentary toothbrush and toothpaste when I’d forgotten mine. Breakfast was generous and very good, served in a spacious room overlooking a green garden. It’s not right in the center, though still close enough to the center and the many museums. My room was on the top floor, with no balcony, and even though the hotel is by a street with trams, it was relatively quiet.

The breakfast had a great selection, and they even let us bring our little dog in a bag, which was a big plus. The room was clean, but being in the cellar, it was too hot for us to leave the windows open, and we could hear noise, maybe from the heating room or footsteps above. It was okay for one night since we needed somewhere near the hospital. For parking, be aware that some cars may not fit. (Photo attached.)
