The boat was wonderfully peaceful when we visited in early November. The bistro and beach bar were still open, and we’d happily return. It’s modern, comfortable, and just right for two, with everything you need for a relaxing weekend. A few basics were missing, though: dishwasher tablets, dishcloths, washing-up liquid, soap, and a spare toilet roll. We brought those ourselves and mentioned it to the handover staff as something to improve. We hope future guests find them provided. The €130 charge for final cleaning and water and electricity felt far too high, especially since we only learned about it after booking through mydays. It seems particularly excessive when you bring your own sheets and towels, so that cost did bring our rating down.

The houseboat is modern and sits in a fantastic spot. It’s really well equipped, and my Thermomix girls felt right at home. I was glad to see that earlier feedback had been acted on. We had dishwasher tablets and plenty of toilet paper. For a summer stay, though, insect screens would be a good addition, since it’s easy for unwanted little visitors to get inside.

The key handover was easy, and the houseboat itself is lovely in its little harbor, with a bistro and beach bar nearby. Better supplies on board would make it a great holiday spot. We were missing things we’d expect at this price: the knives were blunt, there were no rubbish bags or dishwasher tablets, and there was only the toilet paper already on the roll. We were also meant to get a parking permit, but it wasn’t there. The coffee machine needed 45 minutes to make five cups, and we were told this was a known issue. Several emails before our stay warned us how costly it would be to lose something or leave it in poor condition, which took some of the shine off our anticipation.

We couldn’t hire bikes along the promenade because the rental station was closed, and the bistro was shut too. The neighboring town is beautiful, though. The houseboat was tidy and modern, with lovely furnishings, a comfortable bed, and a kitchen that had what we needed.

Braunsbedra is quiet, and the harbor has a cocktail bar and a grill stand with delicious food. You can hire bikes or go out on the lake by stand-up paddleboard. We’d love to return to the Well houseboat. We were welcomed warmly on arrival. The host showed us around the boat and dock and shared useful excursion tips. Everything was clean and very well equipped, and there was even a grill. We had some work to do during our stay, but the fast Wi-Fi let us keep all our appointments without trouble.
