Villa Sternkopf

The forest view and the river’s soft murmur were a lovely part of our stay. We spent two nights at Villa Sternkopf, and everything felt quiet, spotless, and thoughtfully furnished. The staff were warm and capable, and we felt looked after right away. The sauna was modern and well cared for, as clean as the rest of the house. Fichtelberg, Schwarzenberg, and Annaberg were only a few minutes away. We’ve paid a lot more for places that didn’t come close. For another trip to the Ore Mountains, Villa Sternkopf would be our choice again. A perfect stay.

We stayed in the Seiffen Suite, and its atmosphere really stood out. The suite had a separate bedroom, a cozy living room, a luxurious bathroom, and an open kitchen with everything supplied. The interior felt newly designed and high quality, and there was plenty of room and privacy. The sauna was available around the clock, with the option to cool off in the snow afterward. Breakfast came to the door at the time we requested, which made things easy. The location worked well for getting around: about 22 km to Oberwiesenthal, 70 km to Seiffen, 33 km to Karlovy Vary (Carlsbad), and 18 km to Johanngeorgenstadt. Compared with the famous Grandhotel Pupp in Karlovy Vary, Villa Sternkopf felt more spacious, quieter, private, well kept, and affordable. The Grandhotel Pupp is known for its film appearances and historic casino, but its rooms are only 18-25 square meters and overpriced. Breakfast there was generally adequate, though the quality could be better. In particular, fresh meat and sausages would be preferable to the pre-packaged options, which don’t meet the standard of a place like that. Highly recommended.

There’s lots of room here, and the house is a great choice if you’d rather have space than the busy feel of a hotel. Everything was clean and well kept, including the bathrooms and the other rooms. The house is lovely, and the apartments are nicely furnished. Since some are on the ground floor, I think it could work for wheelchair users. I slept really well, and it’s quiet at night. There’s a foosball table, a nice outdoor spot to sit and barbecue, and space for kids to run around and play. Breakfast can be brought to the door by a friendly person if you ask. I forgot to take a photo, but the eggs were still warm every day. There’s also a great coffee pod machine, so you can keep making coffee! 😀 Just a personal thought, not a complaint: I’d put the desk in the living room instead of the bedroom. As a businessman, I like having business channels on my laptop while I work when I’m away, and it can be awkward if one partner wants to sleep while the other is working. You can really unwind here, and I’d recommend it.

We’ve stayed here twice and felt comfortable and private both times. It was especially cozy over Christmas. The place is spacious, very well equipped, and spotless, with a large walk-in shower, a lovely breakfast, and parking available. We’d happily return.
